As part of the Occupational Safety Week and World Occupational Safety and Health Day under the slogan “The Impact of Climate Change on Occupational Safety and Health” (in accordance with the rector’s order No. 298 dated April 23, 2024), associate professors of the Department of Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Education Matkivskyi M.P. and Boryk V.V. organized thematic meetings with university students. This event is aimed at raising the awareness of higher education students about the impact of climate change on working conditions and health in the process of work. The lecturers spoke about the history of the emergence of World Occupational Safety and Health Day and focused on changing weather conditions, which significantly affect the sphere of work, especially the safety and health of employees. Examples of occupational risks that are exacerbated by climate change include heat stress, UV radiation, air pollution, major industrial accidents, extreme weather events, increased transmission of diseases, and increased exposure to chemicals. This topic has gained particular relevance in Ukraine due to the aggressive war waged by the Russian Federation. The war has brought additional dangers and threats to Ukraine that negatively affect working conditions.
