Research

Main directions of scientific research
The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department actively combines teaching with scientific activities, which contributes to improving the level of efficiency of the educational process, improving the content of teaching taking into account the current state and tendencies of development of chemistry and chemical education, introduction of advanced forms of teaching and methodological provision of training .

The main purpose of the scientific work of the department is to provide quality training for specialists who must have modern pedagogical technologies and strive for continuous professional self-improvement.

The main forms of scientific activity of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department are:

participation of the teaching staff of the department in all-Ukrainian and international scientific-practical and scientific-methodological conferences;
fulfillment of state budgetary, state contracts and within working hours of research works;
writing of textbooks, manuals, monographs, lecture notes, scientific articles, etc .;
internship of the teaching staff of the department at NAS and MES institutions, educational establishments of Ukraine and foreign countries;
scientific cooperation with public authorities, local self-government, scientific institutions, educational establishments of different levels of accreditation, enterprises of different types of activities in the form of round tables, symposia, conferences, seminars, etc .;
involvement of students in scientific work, etc.
Scientific directions of the department

“Synthesis of state-of-the-art biologically active compounds based on nitrogen-containing heterosystems and anthraquinone-triazines” (Registration number 0113U006314).
Scientific adviser – candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor Taras TM

While working on this topic, the staff of the department develop ways to synthesize new biologically active compounds based on the nitrogen-containing derivatives of 9,10-anthraquinone containing various pharmacoform groups. Work on the study of the mechanism of diazotization of 1- and 2-amino-9,10-anthraquinone, and study the behavior of 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydroanthracene-1-diazonium cation in N coupling reactions. On the basis of the initial experimental screening of biological activity of new drugs, they try to establish the dependence of the influence of the chemical structure of these drugs on biological activity.

“The use of ICT in the study of chemical disciplines.”
Scientific adviser – Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Medak L.Ya.

In its work the teaching staff of the department is focused on the latest achievements of theory and practice, current world standards, introduction of innovative teaching technologies, complexity of providing the educational process, conducting study tours and more. This enables future professionals to acquire sound knowledge of vocational-oriented disciplines and practical skills.

The department’s policy is aimed at investing in the development of teachers through their focus on internships, refresher courses, trainings, business seminars, round tables and more.

The staff of the department conducts scientific and methodical activities aimed at creating mobile applications for playback of video materials of practical work and laboratory experiments in accordance with the current programs in chemistry for general educational institutions. This will allow the student to get acquainted with the safety rules before performing the work, the devices and reagents necessary for its implementation, and the progress of the work in the form of video materials using a mobile device. The markers of the mobile application are selected drawings of fragments of practical work or laboratory experience, created on the basis of the “Vuforia” platform, which are programmatically implemented as objects of augmented reality, using the multi-platform tool for the development of two- and three-dimensional applications “Unity 3D”.

These scientific directions determine the orientation of scientific research of the teaching staff of the department, as well as students and graduate students.

The teaching staff of the department is active in engaging students in research activities. Students participate in the activities of student problem groups:

“Development of scientific and theoretical bases for the synthesis of new 9,10-anthraquinone-containing nitrogen-containing derivatives as potential biologically active compounds and dyes.”
Supervisors: Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Taras TM,

candidate of chemical sciences, associate professorLuchkevich ER

The main tasks of the problem group: development of preparative techniques for the synthesis of new compounds based on 9,10-anthraquinone-containing nitrogen-containing derivatives with antimicrobial and antitumor activities, which will be the basis for the development of laboratory regulations for samples of these compounds; study of acid-base transformations of 9,10-anthraquinone-diaza derivatives; directed synthesis of new representatives of biologically active 9,10-anthraquinone-derived derivatives from various functional functional groups to search for new effective substances based on the results of computer screening of biological activity of this class of chemical compounds and on the basis of it set the direction of experimental biological studies to identify their practically useful properties; and cytostatic action.

“Analytical quality control of food and cosmetics”
Scientific advisers: Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor L. Medak;

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Kuzyshyn OV

The main tasks of the problem group: analysis of modern methods of falsification and deception of the consumer in the market of food and cosmetic products, description of mechanisms of interaction between the organism and xenobiotics; ways and routes of distribution of toxicants in the body, laboratory studies of food and cosmetics for compliance with DSTU and TU.

The results of students’ scientific work are reflected in publications, participation in conferences.

The Department of Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Education cooperates closely with the educational institutions of Ivano-Frankivsk and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Since 2015, the Department regularly holds scientific-practical conferences, methodological seminars, trainings for teachers of secondary schools in Ivano-Frankivsk and Ivano-Frankivsk region. Teachers and postgraduate students of the department created a site for chemistry teachers “Chemists of Prykarpattya”.
